This pack has been designed for use in the ESOL classroom for groups or individual learners wishing to expand their vocabulary and knowledge of life in the UK. There are six ideas for each book preceded by a set of generic ideas on how this group of learners can be encouraged and supported to read and understand the series. Most be adapted, so that if one activity is particularly useful, it can easily be used again with other books in the series.

Each set of ideas has been designed to encourage not only vocabulary and grammar building, but also discussions around the books’ central themes and how the issues raised can be made relevant to individual learners. There are practical as well as more formal written activities to encourage learners of various abilities and also a brief guidance for tutors highlighting cultural and linguistic features.
