ROLLING ON TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR

Posted by RLD on 11th December 2008

Here in the Highlands it looks like we might be heading into our first real winter for many years.  This is to say a winter with more snow than rain, more frost than mist, the sort of winter that climbers and hillwalkers love.  If they are venturing onto the Cairngorms they will be glad to know the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team is around should they walk into trouble.

The bookselling trade is already talking about John Allen’s CAIRNGORM JOHN: A Life in Mountain Rescue.  ‘Cairngorm John’ was his call sign to the rescue helicopters through the many years he was Team Leader.  You can get a taste of the book in our FORTHCOMING section, and through that on the book’s hinterland.  You might also care to visit the Team’s web site http://www.cmrt.org.uk/index.htm

Introduced by Sir Chris Bonington (http://www.bonington.com/welcome.htm) the book is destined to become a classic of mountain literature.

Our two podcast interviews are proving so popular we are keeping them in the NEWS for a few weeks more.  Chris McIvor’s interview can be uploaded here http://www.hi-arts.co.uk/podcast and Ron McMillan’s can be heard directly here http://drop.io/ronmcmillaninterview  Incidentally, you can add at least a hundred to the number of Chris’s uploads.  The Hi-Arts counter got confused!  We are delighted to report that his A BEND IN THE NILE is being bought all over the UK, and the reprint of Ron’s BETWEEN WEATHERS is due any day now.

We are very pleased to welcome you to sandstonepress.com Please take time to explore the web site and visit all the Hinterlands.
