Happy New Year!

Posted by RLD on 8th January 2009

We are delighted to announce the publication of FICKLE MAN: Robert Burns in the 21st Century.  Edited by Johnny Rodger and Gerard Carruthers FICKLE MAN is not only Sandstone’s first hardback book (more on the way!) it is destined to be seen as the most significant publication in this the 250th anniversary and YEAR OF HOMECOMING (http://www.homecomingscotland.com).

Packed with contemporary engravings by John Kay, one of which is believed to be a newly discovered image of the Bard, and with a cover designed by Thomas Gravemaker of Edinburgh, FICKLE MAN is stunningly beautiful.  While the idea is in your head please take time to visit the Global Burns Network. (http://www.gla.ac.uk/departments/globalburnsnetwork/countdownburns2009).

Chris McIvor’s A BEND IN THE NILE has been selling well across the UK since its publication in November.  So popular has his podcast interview with Moira Forsyth proved we are retaining it for the rest of January as a link (below), as we are Mary Blance’s interview with Ron McMillan, author of BETWEEN WEATHERS.  More such podcasts are on the way.

Our new e-catalogue can be downloaded from the link above.  Please take time to browse this web site, and don’t forget the hinterland of articles, extracts and reviews behind each book page.  Both A BEND IN THE NILE and BETWEEN WEATHERS have significant additions.
